Best Mantı in Kadıköy, Istanbul
For mantı in Kadıköy, start with Sayla or Pita for classic dumplings and çibörek, choose Sinopia or Sinop Mantı for a walnut-topped plate, or try Bodrum Mantı for a crispy version. Our eight addresses cover central Kadıköy as well as Koşuyolu, Fenerbahçe and the Bağdat Caddesi neighbourhoods.
Quick choice: Sayla is first on our list for a traditional mantı stop near Bahariye. Mr. Dumpling offers a broader range of dumpling styles and vegan options; AyşenCem lets you pair Kayseri mantı with yağlama. Pick the style and neighbourhood first: these restaurants are spread across the wider district.
Mantı are filled dumplings. A familiar Turkish plate combines meat-filled dough parcels with yoghurt and a warm sauce, but shape, filling and cooking method vary. Small Kayseri mantı, walnut-topped Sinop mantı and fried crispy versions offer different textures. Çibörek, offered at several stops below, is a fried filled turnover rather than another name for mantı.

Our mantı restaurant list
1. Sayla Mantı — Bahariye

Sayla on Nail Bey Sokak is our starting point for mantı in Kadıköy. Its focused menu keeps the decision simple: mantı is the main event, with çibörek alongside. It is a convenient choice when you are spending time around Bahariye and want a traditional dumpling meal.
As we described in our original Sayla article, these handmade dumplings have enough size for the filling to register, rather than aiming for the tiny grains associated with Kayseri mantı. Order a plate of mantı and share a çibörek if you want to try both dishes.
Choose it for: Classic mantı and çibörek.

2. Pita Mantı — Osmanağa

Pita is another central address for a mantı-and-çibörek meal. The useful distinction here is between classic boiled dumplings and the fried version. Choose according to the texture you want: soft dough under yoghurt, or a more pronounced crispness.
If you are eating with someone else, order different styles and share a çibörek. Use the Piri Çavuş Sokak address below, which the restaurant gives as its current location; older listings still point to its previous premises.
Choose it for: Boiled or fried mantı, plus çibörek.

3. Mr. Dumpling — Osmanağa

Mr. Dumpling broadens the scope beyond a classic Turkish mantı plate. Its menu brings together familiar mantı with dumplings such as khinkali, buuz and momo, offering different fillings, shapes and cooking methods.
It is a useful choice for a group that wants to compare styles, or for someone looking for vegan momo. Specify the filling and the finishing sauce when ordering, including whether you want yoghurt. Several different plates make more sense here than everyone ordering the same thing.
Choose it for: Different dumpling styles and vegan momo.
Address: Osmanağa Mahallesi, Halitağa Caddesi No:26–28, Kadıköy, Istanbul

4. Koşuyolu Mantı — Koşuyolu

Koşuyolu Mantı takes the guide beyond the central market streets. On Mehmet Akfan Sokak, it offers a local option for classic and crispy mantı when you are already in Koşuyolu.
Choose the cooking style first, then the portion that suits your meal. The published menu offers different portion options, so a light lunch and a longer shared meal need not begin with the same order. This is a separate neighbourhood outing from Bahariye or Moda.
Choose it for: Classic or crispy mantı near Koşuyolu.

5. Sinopia Mantı Evi — Fenerbahçe

Sinopia earns its place for the Sinop-style combination of dumplings, walnuts and melted butter. Potato-filled alternatives sit alongside the meat versions, making the choice about both filling and topping.
Try the walnut finish if you usually order yoghurt alone: it changes the texture of the plate. The restaurant states that this Bağdat Caddesi address is its only location. It is a separate business from Sinop Mantı, the next entry.
Choose it for: Walnut-topped Sinop mantı and potato fillings.

6. Sinop Mantı — Çiftehavuzlar

The Çiftehavuzlar branch of Sinop Mantı is another address from our wider Istanbul mantı list. A mixed plate lets you compare the walnut finish with the yoghurt version without committing the whole meal to one.
Make the choice by topping as well as dumpling size. Yoghurt brings a cooler, tangier element; walnuts and butter give a different richness and texture. If both appeal, ask for a half-and-half serving. Çibörek is another option to share at the table.
Choose it for: Walnut and yoghurt finishes on one plate.

7. AyşenCem Kayseri & Yöresel Lezzetler — Caddebostan / Erenköy

AyşenCem suits a meal built around Kayseri cooking. Kayseri mantı, yağ mantısı and yağlama give you several ways to explore the region’s dough-based dishes rather than choosing just one plate.
Sharing mantı and yağlama is a practical order for two. They are different dishes: mantı encloses its filling in individual dumplings, while yağlama layers thin şebit flatbreads with a minced-meat mixture. We also included AyşenCem in our Turkish-language writing about where to eat yağlama.
Choose it for: Kayseri mantı with a shared plate of yağlama.
Address: Caddebostan Mahallesi, Bağdat Caddesi, Nihat Kızıltan Sokak No:350-1/2, Kadıköy, Istanbul

8. Bodrum Mantı & Cafe — Caddebostan

For crispy mantı, consider Bodrum Mantı’s Caddebostan branch. The fried version called Çıtır Bihter offers a different texture from boiled dumplings, so choose it when the crisp shell is part of what you want from the meal.
The wider menu includes dishes such as çökertme kebabı, useful if someone at the table wants something other than mantı. The branch details below follow the brand’s current İskele Sokak listing rather than an older Bağdat Caddesi door number.
Choose it for: Crispy Bihter mantı.

What makes a good plate of mantı?
- Dough and filling should stay in balance. The folded edges should be cooked through, and the parcels should hold their filling.
- The filling should have a clear flavour. Meat-filled mantı should offer more than dough and onion; a vegetable filling should be distinct too.
- Texture depends on the cooking style. Boiled dumplings should remain separate, while fried ones should be crisp without becoming hard or oil-soaked.
- Yoghurt and sauce should complement the dumplings. Specify your garlic preference when ordering.
- Compare each style on its own terms. A Sinop-style plate is not judged by the tiny size of Kayseri mantı, and steamed dumplings do not need the crunch of a fried version.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I eat mantı in central Kadıköy?
Sayla, Pita and Mr. Dumpling are the central options in this list. Sayla and Pita focus your meal around classic mantı and çibörek; Mr. Dumpling offers more shapes, fillings and cooking styles.
Where can I try walnut-topped Sinop mantı?
Sinopia in Fenerbahçe and Sinop Mantı in Çiftehavuzlar are two separate options on Bağdat Caddesi. They have different addresses and phone numbers and should not be treated as branches of the same business.
Is there a vegan option?
Mr. Dumpling lists vegan options, including momo. Ask for the vegan preparation and confirm the sauce and yoghurt choice as well as the filling. A potato filling alone does not establish that the whole plate is vegan.
What is the difference between boiled and crispy mantı?
Boiled mantı has softer dough; frying creates a crisp exterior that gradually softens when yoghurt and sauce are added. Pita, Koşuyolu Mantı, Mr. Dumpling and Bodrum Mantı offer choices beyond a standard boiled plate.
Where can I order Kayseri mantı and yağlama together?
AyşenCem offers both. Sharing the two dishes lets you compare filled dumplings with the layered flatbreads of yağlama. They are separate preparations rather than two names for the same dish.
