Bibi Sucos Rio: Our Favourite Açaí Bowl in Copacabana

Among the açaí we tried in Rio and São Paulo, our favourite was at Bibi Sucos in Copacabana. We ordered a medium bowl with banana and strawberry. Its dense texture and the way the açaí remained the centre of the bowl made it stand out to us.

A juice bar with a wider food menu

Bibi Sucos is not simply an açaí shop. It grew from a juice-bar background and also offers sandwiches, breakfast dishes and meals. During our visit, people were sitting down to eat as well as buying drinks.

The room was busy and young in feel, with customers coming and going. It seemed part of everyday life rather than a place built only around visitor traffic.

The bananas overhead

Yellow details and banana-shaped features helped give the room a playful character. We particularly noticed the banana forms hanging from the ceiling as part of the lighting.

That design suited the fruit-and-juice identity. We liked having something distinctive to look at without the setting feeling formal.

The medium bowl suited us

Our choice was a medium açaí with banana and strawberry. The portion was enough for the stop we wanted. Açaí can be dense, so larger is not automatically the best way to begin.

Different additions can change the bowl considerably. On a first visit, we would keep the toppings simple rather than hide the base under several sauces.

A dense texture and a flavour of its own

The first thing we noticed was the thick, substantial texture. It recalled ice cream in some ways, but did not feel like an ordinary scoop of fruit ice cream.

The açaí bowl we ate at Bibi Sucos

As we ate, the flavour reminded us of chocolate, coffee and a little blueberry. Those are tasting comparisons, not a list of ingredients. The banana and strawberry complemented it without taking over.

Why we would return

For us, the difference was not an enormous pile of toppings or an elaborate presentation. It was that the açaí itself remained clear in the bowl.

We found the portion satisfying and the stop good value during our visit. If we went back, we would probably look past the wider menu and order açaí again.
