How is Gyro Joint? Union City, New Jersey

Gyro Joint is located in Union City, New Jersey; preparing lamb, chicken, and falafel plates and gyros. Gyro is a popular fast food in Athens and New York and Chicago.

Gyro means “Turn” in the Greek language. So grilling a vertical spit of stacked meat and slicing it off as it cooks was developed firstly in Turkey, Bursa. After World War 2, with the population exchange between Turkey and Greece doner kebab was present as “Gyro” in Athens. So we can easily say that Gyro is the Greek Name for Doner Kebab. (“Doner” also means “Turning” in the Turkish language.)

More than a restaurant, Gyro Joint is a “To go” gyro buffet, better for pick-ups and outside orders. There is no waiter around at all. Their lamb meat (from minced meat) tastes good. But their marinated chicken meat is better. The yellow rice, the meat, white and hot sauce is a whole meal. And they also have chicken wings as appetizers. Hummus, Tzatziki, White Sauce, and Grape Leaves are side orders.

The gyro platters look like famous The Halal Guys platters, however, our editors noted that it tastes better than The Halal Guys. So if you need protein, carbohydrates, and sugar all at the same time, Gyro Joint is a cheap and good option to pick up or for outside orders.
